3 Days in Burgundy, Chablis and Champagne

In the Spring of 2024 I had the incredible privilege of winning a trip through work to visit wineries I represent in France! And not just anywhere in France, maybe the three most iconic regions you could think of; Burgundy, Chablis, and Champagne! It’s incredible to think about how much we accomplished in only three full days. Follow along my trip below for some tips on how to make the most out of your winery trip to this region if you are short on time!

Day 1: Burgundy

We flew straight into Paris and then you can take a train or rent a car to go straight into Beaune, about a 3 hour trip. The next morning we woke up in this adorable town called Beaune, the heartland of the Southern part of the Cote d’Or in Burgundy. We stayed at Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa which was absolutely lovely and right in town.

There's a beautiful running/biking path through the vineyards called La Voie des Vignes that you definitely want to take time to explore. We had an incredible tasting and lunch at Bouchard Pere & Fils, an iconic Burgundy house founded in 1731. Always make sure to make advance reservations for anywhere you want to visit on this trip as most of domaine’s are appointment only!

We had dinner that night at Le Maufoux and it was delicious. Definitely do not miss stopping at La Maison du Colombier before or after dinner too for an absolutely incredible wine list and snacks in the beautiful wine cave.

Day 2: Chablis

We drove about an hour and a half to Chablis, Burgundy to visit William Fevre. We had lunch at Le Maufoux Chablis and then got to tour through the Chablis Grand Cru vineyards sites and hold a bit of Kimmeridgian soil (limestone, clay and sea fossils) that it is so famous for, such an incredible site to see! We tasted through the delicious Fevre wines and even visited their animal farm where they had the cutest lambs, goats and donkeys!

You’ll see very quickly that Chablis is a very quiet, tiny town so there aren’t a ton of dining options and no late night spots from what I could tell. We had a lovely dinner at our hotel though, the restaurant is called Bistro des Grands Crus.

Day 3: Champagne

The next morning we woke for the around 2 hour drive to Champagne. We stayed at an incredible hotel I highly recommend called Loisium Wine & Spa Hôtel Champagne. You’ll want to schedule in some down time here to use their incredible spa area and pool overlooking the Champagne vineyards. We had a tasting and lunch at Champagne Henriot which was absolutely exquisite! Dinner that night was at the Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa overlooking the vineyards at sunset, an experience never to forget!

The next morning after a run through the vineyards, we caught an easy hour train back to the airport to fly out! A whirlwind trip, but so worth every second! Let me know where you plan on stopping for your next trip to Burgundy and Champagne!
