5 Fun Wine Activities to do during Quarantine!

As the quarantine extends on and on, we are all looking for new fun things to keep us busy. How about some of these ideas on how to pair your favorite wine with at home activities?!

1. Wine and Painting

I had so much fun going to a wine painting studio in L.A. with my friend Hattie before the shutdown. ( https://www.paintandsipstudiola.com) support them when this is all over!

BUT... why can't we still have fun sipping wine and painting from home! Check out some of these fun wine related Paint by Number's from Amazon below! Grab a glass (or bottle) of your favorite wine, get a friend to get the same Paint by number as you, get them on FaceTime, and have a night painting and drinking wine like you were at that studio!

2. Wine and Yoga

Nothing to help you zen out more than combining wine and yoga! Stretch and sip it out with some of these fun online yoga classes with wine tasting!

- Check out Vino Vinyasa's website and instagram page to stay updated on their fun virtual wine and yoga classes! I got to do a class with them a while ago and it was so fun, they weave wine facts through the flow and finish with a guided wine tasting!

3. Wine and Gaming

I've heard many ladies tell me that their man has taken their gaming to a whole new level during this quarantine. If you can't fight them, join them! Check out these fun wine games you can play with your quarantine buddy or set up a virtual game session with friends!

You can also have fun blind tasting with your friends! Try describing a wine you are drinking over FaceTime and see if they can guess which grape and region it is from the descriptors you give! Then switch!

4. Wine and Cooking

Wine is the perfect companion to cooking, whether you are actually using the wine to cook, or simply just enjoying a glass WHILE you cook!

First, some tips for cooking with wine:

- Use a fair quality wine. Using super cheap wine or wine that has gone bad can negatively affect the dish you are making.

- Wine that's been open 4 days or so days is probably still ok, but any longer you want to check it for any off smells or tastes before using it.

- Avoid buying wine labeled "cooking wine" as this is usually very low quality, it's best to spend an extra buck or two for something that will really enhance your dish.

- When a recipe calls for a "dry, white wine" Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc work best.

- When a recipe calls for " dry red wine" choose a wine with moderate tannins and good fruitiness like a Merlot, Pinot Noir, or Sangiovese.

5. Virtual Tastings with your favorite WineMakers

So many wineries are rolling with the punches right now and offering fun virtual tastings and events with the winemaker themselves! So try looking up your favorite wine on Instagram or Facebook and see what they have to offer. Here's some fun ones I found!

@TrincheroNapaValley - Offering fun wine education and vineyard tours!

@FreemarkAbbey - #FreemarkFridays with winemaker Kristy Melton. She takes viewers through a wine each week and explains her winemaking process.

@CakeBreadCellars - Offering Cooking With Cakebread on their Facebook page.

@SonomaCutrer - Offering Mother's Day Brunch recipes and pairings, Virtual tastings, and Spring Grilling!

@HopeFamilyWines - Offering Food and Wine Pairings, virtual tastings and penny shipping!

Many wineries are offering good shipping deals right now too so you can have your favorite wines at home!

Hope you can use some of these ideas to make your quarantine a little more exciting! Share below any fun wine activities you've been doing at home!
