As we all are stuck at home watching more Christmas movies than ever this year, thought it would be fun to create some fun wine pairings to drink with the Christmas classics!
1. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and Orange Wine
Maybe if the Grinch had some Orange Wine when he was growing up he wouldn't have felt so lonely!
Orange Wine is new trend of fermenting white wine with their grape skins, giving the wine an orange hue. Just like the Grinch who's color was different than the rest, don't knock it till you try it and give Orange wine a chance to change your heart this Christmas!
2. "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and Grenache
Cheers to Rudolph's red nose that saved Christmas day with a bright red Grenache! The cinnamon and nutmeg notes are perfect for Christmas season and will leave you feeling jolly the whole movie long!
3. "Elf" and Moscato D'Asti
What better to pair with Elf that a sparkling Moscato D'Asti! It's sweet, bubbly, fun and festive and will pair perfectly with Elf's favorite meal of Spaghetti, maple syrup and candy :)
4. "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and Barolo
I recommend a dark, heavy wine like a Barolo from Italy for this one, it will help you get in the spooky spirit as you watch skeletons dance about!
5. "Charlie Brown Christmas"and Beaujolais Nouveau
Beaujolais Nouveau is famous for being an affordable, young, quaffable wine from France. This wine is just like Charlie Brown’s Christmas tree...nothing too fancy, but delicious and does the job of bringing people together and spreading yummy cheer!
6. "The Christmas Carol" and Cabernet Franc
Did you know Cabernet Franc is the parent grape of both Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot? Cabernet Sauvignon is a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Cab Franc! Just like the ghost of Christmas Past, this wine will take you back in time to the origins of so many incredible wines and give you a new appreciation for the present :)
Hope you enjoyed this fun little wine and movie pairing! Let me know some of your favorite Christmas movies and I'll do a pairing!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this post! So clever, innovative and great way to get into the Holiday Spirit! I had no idea that orange wine even existed till reading this! Curious now to try it, can you recommend one?
